Your Body Knows

I recently posted a meme that stated that the body's ability to heal itself is greater than we have been allowed to know, or words to that effect. This seemed to resonate with many of my fiends and FaceBook followers, probably because they know it to be true either from their own lives or from stories they have heard. The good news is, they're right. Your body can heal itself in the right circumstances (even if they seem wrong) much of the time.

I know that the body can heal itself because it happened to me. I was born with a condition called mitochondrial myopathy, which is a rare form of muscular dystrophy. As is expected with this condition, I became weak and needed a wheelchair. I had a lot of pain in all of my skeletal muscles. I bought and swallowed a whole lot of prescription medications. In time, I discovered some natural methods that offered some reduction in pain, specifically acupuncture, chiropractic, and massage. I became a hypnotherapist, and worked on myself as well as my clients. My luck changed the day I met a colleague, Patti Conklin, who had developed the Conklin Method Cellular Cleansing. After using this technique, my muscles healed and I eventually became a competitive ballroom dancer. I also trained with Patti to offer the same service to other people.

So, am I an anomaly? No, not as far as I can tell. Many, many people are able to heal because the body knows how to do exactly that. The cellular cleansing and other techniques about which you may have heard provide the help the body needs when it is ready to heal itself. Sometimes it simply needs that framework, that nudge if you will, to know that the circumstances are right and the unconscious is ready to allow the healing.

Please note, there is no blame or shame attached to having a disabling condition or to not healing right now. It seems that we develop issues as the best way to learn something sometimes, and they unconscious mind is not ready to let go of that until it's learned. The body (sometimes called the body/mind) knows how and when to heal itself more than we have been allowed to know. Sometimes we have to go through it to comet the other side.

If you want to know more, I have a few resources available. My book "Beyond Disability: Toward Self-Acceptance and Peace" was written while I had the muscular dystrophy and shares insight I had at that point. The hypnosis sessions in the book are also available as recordings. My book "Unstuff Yourself: finding Joy on the Road to Wellness" was written after I healed myself and contains a lot of useful information about healing and the place of Joy in the process.

When you are ready, or if you just want to explore the possibilities, you can email me at docnancie@aol.com or through my website, doctornancie.com I would love to talk with you about your individual situation and discuss whether hypnotherapy or a Conklin Method Cellular Cleansing would be the perfect choice for you.
