Weight Change


Obesity is a world-wide epidemic which causes other health crises such as the rises in conditions like diabetes, heart disease, joint problems, and so much more.  In addition to the increasing numbers of truly obese people, there are millions more who recognize that their weight is higher than they would like.  these people, inanition to those who are in the obese category, do very well with hypnotherapy to reduce their weight.

So, how does it work?  In a deeply relaxed state, the individual is helped to choose more healthy foods in appropriate amounts as well as to eat more slowly.  This is important because the satiety center in the brain takes about 20 minutes to realize that the individual has eaten.  Weight change occurs in part by eating more or less food in that 20 minutes.  Regardless of how much the person eats in that time, it takes the brain the full 20 minutes to get the message.  Naturally slimmer people often eat more slowly so they are fully satisfied with less food.  Naturally heavier people often eat more quickly.  Of course, food choices make a big difference.  Even eating slowly will not help a person get slimmer if they eat only cakes and candies.

In addition to food choices and other eating behavior, exercise has a great influence on weight and health.  Using hypnosis, a person can be helped to make the choice to exercise more regularly.  Many people think that this means that they will have to go to a gym every day.  Nothing could be further from the truth!  In fact, some clients never set foot in a gym because they hate gyms.  There are literally hundreds of ways to include exercise in a busy life, whether it’s walking more or running after a child or learning a new skill like dancing or rowing.  We will work with you to help you discover what is best for your lifestyle.  Also, nobody expects a “total couch potato” to suddenly run marathons.  Each individual must begin where he or she is in terms of fitness and go from there, even if it’s just walking to the mailbox every day.  Any increase in exercise will cause a commensurate increase in health.

In short, by engaging the unconscious mind in the job of attaining and maintaining a healthy weight, hypnotherapy is possibly the most effective method available.
